The Wichita, Kansas area is experiencing above average temperatures that are expected to persist for the time being. There is no indication of any significant cold weather until around the New Year’s holiday. However, foggy conditions are anticipated on Christmas morning, which may cause travel delays, particularly in central and eastern Kansas.

Temperatures over the next few days will be a mix of 40s and 50s. On Tuesday, there will be some clearing in the afternoon, with highs expected to reach the low to mid 50s in western Kansas. Light winds will be present during this time.

Christmas Day is expected to be foggy and cloudy, with little to no rain. Temperatures will reach mainly in the 40s. However, on Thursday, a low pressure system will move into the area, bringing scattered rain showers. The rainfall amounts will be light, generally less than 0.25 inches, and there is no forecast for ice or snow.

Another round of rain is expected to follow the recent rainfall on Thursday. This next system will arrive on Friday, bringing with it the possibility of light rain showers. It’s important to note that this precipitation will be in liquid form and not frozen, meaning that travel concerns for the region over the weekend following Christmas will be minimal.
