Authorities confirm body found is that of missing Mason City woman

MARSHALLTOWN —- Authorities have confirmed that a body found in a farm field near Marshalltown earlier this week is that of a Mason City woman.

32-year-old Michelle Grommet was reported missing on March 22nd to the Marshalltown Police Department. Police say a body was found at about 9 o’clock Monday morning in a farm field just east of the Walmart store.

Marshalltown police say an autopsy was performed on Tuesday and confirmed it was Grommet. The cause of death has not been determined pending final autopsy results, but authorities say there’s no evidence or information that suggests foul play.
