On Friday, the U.S Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona announced that a Tucson man has been sentenced to 33 months in prison for smuggling drugs across the border.

In May 2019, a release stated that Reynaldo Parra-Villagrana, who was 27 at the time, delivered 878.8 grams of pure methamphetamine to an undercover officer in the parking lot of a sporting goods store.

Authorities stated that the delivery of drugs was carried out by Parra-Villagrana, who was representing a drug supplier based in Mexico.

As part of a long-term investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration, a covert officer played a crucial role. Working in conjunction with the Tucson-based High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force and an attorney from Tucson, the agency pursued the case through prosecution.

After the verdict, the defendant received a sentence that requires five years of supervised release.
