A sign that winter is here — Clear Lake officially declared iced-in

CLEAR LAKE — One of the first signs of winter is officially here, as Clear Lake has been declared iced-in.

Water Department Superintendent Adam Theiss made the declaration on Tuesday. The lake is officially declared iced-in when there is no open water on the lake.

Clear Lake in 2020 was declared iced-in on December 1st. The earliest ice-in date according to Clear Lake records was November 4th in 1991, with the latest being December 24th, 2001.
