The Platte County Sheriff’s Office has apprehended a woman who is facing charges of theft from a hospital and drug possession.
On December 27, Emily Cooper, a 46-year-old woman, was apprehended by authorities following a report from a Saint Luke’s Hospital employee. The employee claimed to have witnessed an elderly woman, who turned out to be Emily Cooper, stealing from the cafeteria.
Deputies who responded to the incident apprehended Cooper in the cafeteria, where she initially provided them with a false identity.
Despite being informed that she was not allowed to leave due to suspicions of theft, Cooper claimed she was heading to dispose of some garbage but instead made a sudden dash towards the emergency department doors.
After apprehending Cooper, the deputies proceeded to conduct a thorough search of her person before escorting her to the Platte County Detention Center.
During the search, the authorities discovered illegal substances stored in various items. These included methamphetamine concealed in a napkin and a plastic baggie, as well as additional drugs wrapped in tin foil. After conducting tests, it was determined that the substances were either methamphetamine or fentanyl.
Cooper was found in possession of a total of around 1.2 grams of drugs and a glass smoking pipe. Additionally, she was accused of stealing a slice of peanut butter cheesecake from the hospital cafeteria.
Cooper faces four charges and has been booked into county jail. Currently, he is being held on a $20,000 bond.

Her bond review hearing has been set for January 7th.
