According to the National Weather Service, the Kansas City area can anticipate warmer than usual weather for the final Monday of 2024. However, brace yourselves as colder temperatures and possibly the heaviest snowfall of the season are set to kick off the New Year.

According to the weather service, the metro area can expect temperatures to reach around 50 degrees, which is significantly higher than the usual 39 degrees for this time of year.

While there may be some fog in certain areas, it is not expected to be as widespread as in previous mornings.

According to the weather service, rain is predicted to enter the region during the afternoon and gradually spread across the area throughout the evening and overnight.

The weather service stated that while most of the precipitation will be in the form of rainfall with temperatures above freezing, there is a slight possibility of light snow occurring in the far northern parts of Missouri after midnight, when temperatures dip slightly below freezing.

However, any snow accumulation is expected to be minimal, if it occurs at all.

New Year chill in Kansas City weather forecast

As we usher in the New Year, we can anticipate a delightful change in the weather. The temperatures are set to drop, bringing cooler vibes to the atmosphere.

On New Year’s Eve, we can expect the mercury to reach the upper 30s, creating a pleasant chill in the air. As the night progresses, the temperatures will further dip into the mid-20s, providing a crisp and refreshing start to the new year.

According to the weather service, New Year’s Day will be accompanied by sunny skies, although the temperatures will only reach the average level.

Temperatures are expected to reach around 40 degrees on Thursday, but the remainder of the week will be cooler. There is also a possibility of light snowfall on Thursday in northern Missouri.

Friday’s temperatures will hover around freezing, while both Saturday and Sunday will experience temperatures in the mid- to upper 20s. Overnight, temperatures will drop to the teens and 20s.

There is a potential for a more intense storm system to pass through the area during the upcoming weekend, which could bring significant snowfall.

According to the weather service, the specifics of the storm are still uncertain, but there is approximately a 30% possibility of experiencing more than 3 inches of snow.

According to the weather service, this upcoming snowfall appears to be the most substantial one so far this winter season, which has been relatively calm.
