Anticipating a Cold Front and Chilly New Year’s Day in Southeast Texas

Houston, TX – Southeast Texas will experience a change in weather as a cold front arrives overnight, following a warm Monday with temperatures peaking in the mid-70s.

The incoming front will bring cooler temperatures throughout the week. As the night progresses, there is a possibility of patchy fog forming, which may affect visibility for commuters on Monday morning.

The National Weather Service predicts that the temperature will reach a high of around 76°F on Monday, but it will sharply drop as a cold front moves through late Monday night into early Tuesday.

By Tuesday morning, the temperature will dip into the mid-40s, and breezy winds will contribute to cool conditions throughout the day.

On New Year’s Day, we can expect sunny skies and a high temperature near 60°F, accompanied by calm winds.

As the evening approaches, temperatures will drop into the low 40s, creating a chilly but dry atmosphere for outdoor celebrations.

However, drivers should remain cautious as there is a possibility of fog developing Wednesday night. This could potentially reduce visibility on major roadways, including I-10 and I-45.

There is a 30% chance of showers predicted for Thursday evening into Friday morning, bringing back the rain chances.

The temperatures are expected to stay in the low 60s throughout the weekend. It is recommended for residents to have an umbrella ready and stay updated on any changes in the weather conditions.

Be cautious of limited visibility when commuting overnight or in the early morning and adjust your plans accordingly. If you are hosting an outdoor New Year’s event, you can expect cooler temperatures but dry weather, which is ideal.
