Wichita Firefighters Battle Multiple Fires Over Two Days

The Wichita Fire Department has been responding to a series of fires across the city over the past two days, with several incidents resulting in injuries and rescues.

The first fire occurred in a boarded-up house in the 1000 block of South Ida, where flames were visible through the windows. Firefighters rescued an individual and a dog from the home, both of whom were unresponsive.

Emergency medical services revived them, and the individual was transported to a local hospital for treatment, while the dog was taken into the care of animal control.

Early Sunday morning, around 6 a.m., crews extinguished a kitchen fire at an apartment in the 900 block of South Mission. A critically injured resident was found and transported to a nearby hospital.

Later, a significant fire at a home on North Cypress left one person injured and requiring medical attention. The residence had experienced a previous attic fire the day before, according to the fire department.

Additionally, a reported high-rise fire in the 1300 block of South Bleckley, caused by a kitchen blaze, was quickly brought under control by firefighters. No injuries were reported in that incident.

Authorities continue to investigate the causes of these fires.
