A couple was found shot dead in their home in Ohio last Monday.
WFMJ reports that they found a man and woman dead at a home in West Township, Ohio, with suspected gunshot wounds.
Deputies responded to the home after receiving a request for a welfare check, according to the outlet. WFMJ reported that dispatchers received a call shortly after from a 16-year-old boy who discovered the remains of his mother, Vanessa Chester, and stepfather, Jason Hilaire, in the basement of the home.
According to WFMJ, the guy who contacted authorities for a welfare check reported receiving a 28-minute “ominous-sounding voicemail” from Hilaire. The couple was in the process of divorcing, according to the publication, and the sheriff’s office confirmed that the death looked to be a murder-suicide.
According to the station, Child Protective Services came to the site to look after the 16-year-old and his younger sister.
WFMJ reports that the probe is still ongoing.
