A powerful storm will blow into the Northeast a week before Thanksgiving, bringing a combination of rain, sleet, snow, scattered thunderstorms, and high wind gusts.

The multi-threat, complex system is expected to impact the region from late Wednesday night, Nov. 20, through Friday, Nov. 22. This system is forming in the Great Lakes before making its way to the area. (See the first image above from AccuWeather.)

By the time Thursday morning rolls around, we can expect a decent amount of rainfall, ranging from three-quarters to an inch.

The storm will reach its peak on Thursday, bringing rain, showers, and thunderstorms to various areas. This weather system will provide much-needed rainfall to the Northeast, which has not seen significant precipitation since late September.

Thursday’s weather will be characterized by raw and blustery conditions, with temperatures reaching around 50 degrees. The wind speeds are expected to be around 15 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Thursday will see new precipitation totals ranging from one to two inches of rain.

Thursday night will continue to experience strong wind gusts of 25 mph. In areas where snowfall is anticipated, the snow will be seen towards the end of the system during this time.

Friday’s weather is expected to be mostly cloudy and colder, with the high temperature reaching the low 40s. There is a possibility of lingering showers throughout the day and into the night.

Saturday, November 23rd is expected to be a brisk day, with a high temperature reaching the upper 60s. The skies will be partly sunny, adding a touch of warmth to the cool air.

Sunday, November 24th is expected to bring mostly sunny skies, accompanied by a pleasant high temperature of approximately 50 degrees.
