A Young Mother Who Killed In A Crash And Shooting On The Northwest Side Of Indianapolis Is Remembered In A Vigil

Last week, 21-year-old new mother Treasure Gray failed to attend a Fourth of July celebration, leaving her family perplexed and concerned.

Karen Cox, who identified herself as Gray’s mother, expressed concern over the fact that Treasure was unable to join her sisters at their grandmother’s house. “That’s something that is bothering her sisters and everybody right now,” Cox stated. “They talked to her and they were going to meet up the next day, and then this happened early Friday morning.”

On the morning of July 5, Gray was involved in a crash and shooting at 18th and Harding streets. She was reportedly chased and shot multiple times before her car collided with an IndyGo bus. Sadly, Gray was taken off life support following the tragic incident. Her family is still grieving from the loss.

Gray’s family was questioned by FOX59 and CBS4 about her presence at the intersection at 6 a.m. According to her sister, Erica Hunter, it was uncommon for her to be in that vicinity at such an early hour.

According to Hunter, she remains curious about Gray’s activities and destination on the morning in question.

During a family vigil on Sunday evening near the intersection where Gray had crashed, Hunter spoke with FOX59 and CBS4 while holding Gray’s daughter.

Hunter fondly remembers this baby as a treasure. According to him, she exuded love and care, but what he remembers most about her is her captivating smile.

It has been reported that Gray’s death was not the sole tragedy resulting from the crash. Three other individuals suffered injuries, and upon further investigation at the scene, a firearm was discovered in the second car. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department has yet to confirm if this weapon was the one utilized in the fatal shooting of Gray.

Cox expressed his strong disapproval and stated that the complete situation is yet to be determined. He emphasized the need to further investigate and uncover the truth.

According to Gray’s family, detectives have provided them with some reassurance that they are making headway in unraveling the tragedy. However, no one has been charged yet in connection with the case.
