Gavin Sawchuck has been added to the watch list for the Doak Walker Award, which is presented annually to the top running back in college football. This brings the total number of players on the watch list to 88.

Despite not winning any awards last year, Sawchuk, a third-year sophomore, managed to lead Oklahoma in rushing yards. He had an impressive average of over 6 yards per attempt, with almost 750 rushing yards and 9 touchdowns. As a result, many people believe that he is capable of having a breakout season. Closing out the 2023 season with an average of over 123 yards per game has given rise to optimism about Sawchuk’s future performance.

Oklahoma State’s Ollie Gordon has been joined by Sawchuk on the award’s watch list.
