John Force, a legendary NHRA driver, has been discharged from the hospital following a severe crash at PlayNHRA Virginia Nationals and will now receive outpatient care.

John Force Racing announced on Tuesday, July 23, that John Force has been released from the Barrow Neurological Institute, where he was receiving rehabilitation for a traumatic brain injury. The injury was sustained during a crash at the PlayNHRA Virginia Nationals on June 23.

On the day in question, Force’s Funny Car experienced a catastrophic engine explosion as it approached the finish line, hurtling him into a concrete guard wall at an astonishing speed of over 300 miles per hour. The car then collided with the other guard wall before finally coming to a stop. Force was swiftly airlifted to the hospital for medical attention.

Force not only suffered from a traumatic brain injury but also a fractured sternum and an injury to his right wrist.

According to family members, Force will be receiving ongoing treatment from specialized therapists in California on an outpatient basis.

Ashley Hood expressed her joy by stating, “He finally gets to sleep in his own bed.”

According to John Force Racing, the next step in his recovery will involve outpatient speech, occupational, and physical therapy to tackle any remaining short-term memory and cognitive difficulties.
