4 Oklahoma Teachers Up For Probe After Osde Monthly Meeting

The July meeting of the State Department of Education was marked by high tension and a packed agenda. One of the key topics of discussion was the revocation process of four Oklahoma teachers. The board members voted unanimously to proceed with hearings on this matter.

State Superintendent Ryan Walters vowed to ensure the safety of schools by fulfilling their responsibilities.

Four teachers were involved in the incident; Scott Renken, Alison Scott, Anthony Deason, and Regan Killackey.

In October, a federal grand jury trial is scheduled to hear the case against Deason, who stands accused of child exploitation in the Eastern District Court.

At the moment, there are two educators who are gaining attention due to their social media activity.

According to Walters, teaching in the state of Oklahoma will not be permitted for anyone who promotes the assassination of President Trump or any other elected official.

Alison Scott, a teacher from Ardmore, gained national attention when her Facebook post was featured on the popular “Libs of TikTok” account. The post has since garnered millions of views.

Scott took to Facebook and expressed disappointment that the assassination attempt on Trump had failed.

According to Scott’s statement, he expressed his desire for a better scope by saying, “I wish they had a better scope.”

According to Walters, unacceptable behavior like that will not be tolerated in Oklahoma.

Last week, Ardmore City Schools issued a statement stating their investigation into the matter and firmly denouncing any physical violence or language that promotes it, regardless of the target. Walters made it clear that such behavior is unacceptable, even if it was directed towards President Biden or any other elected official.

Regan Killackey, the second teacher, gained media attention after filing a lawsuit against the state for the contentious House Bill 1775. Along with the ACLU and BERT, Killackey was one of several plaintiffs involved in the case.

According to Walters, a post from 2019 on Instagram resurfaced last week, depicting images of knives being held to President Trump’s throat.

Years ago, Killackey posted a picture where he held a toy knife up to a mask of Trump. It’s important to note that this post was made before the July shooting.

According to Walters, allowing such individuals to teach in Oklahoma schools is not acceptable. He firmly believes that the state should not tolerate their presence in the education system.

The reason for Scott Renken’s investigation has not been disclosed to News 9.

The board members have unanimously decided to assign a hearing officer to investigate each teacher. The hearing officer will conduct an investigation to determine if it is necessary to revoke their teaching license.

Currently, the teachers have not been suspended.
