12th Street Northwest road reconstruction starts Monday in Mason City

MASON CITY — A couple of road closures starting next week will impact drivers going through Mason City.

== The 12th Street Northwest project will begin on Monday with the closing of the street between Federal and Madison Avenues. That area will be closed for several months for contractors to remove the existing pavement, install a new storm sewer system, add upgrades and improvements to city utilities and private services, and the construction of a new Portland Cement Concrete pavement. The official detour route will take traffic down Pierce Avenue to US Highway 122, back up US 65 up to 12th Street. 

== East State Street between Georgia and Carolina Avenues will be closed starting on Monday. The road closure is due to utility work to be conducted in that area and will be in effect all week. Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area and use alternate routes during the closure.
