Testimony over at Becker trial
|
|
ALLISON, Iowa (AP) - Prosecutors have called the final witness in the first-degree murder trial of Mark Becker, accused of gunning down football coach Ed Thomas last summer. Seven days of testimony ended Tuesday morning with Des Moines psychiatrist Michael Taylor, who maintained Becker was too organized in his thinking to be insane on June 24. That's when Becker is charged with killing Thomas in the Aplington-Parkersburg High School weight room. Becker has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity. Taylor says he believes Becker suffers from hallucinations and delusions but that he could still tell right from wrong. Defense lawyers called their last witness Monday. Closing arguments are set for Wednesday morning, then the case will go to the jury.
