Runoff next month --- Hotel/Motel Tax approved
Breaking News
MASON CITY --- There will be a runoff election for the Second ward seat on the Mason City City Council after none of the six candidates could even get over one-third of the votes on Tuesday. Steve Tynan and Mary Beth Greenan received the most votes and will move on to next month's run-off election.



Steve Tynan --- 255
Mary Beth Greenan --- 175
Travis Hickey --- 128
Leonard Foster --- 107
Gary Horn --- 91
Jeff Christie --- 12



Meanwhile, Mason City voters overwhelmingly passed a hike in the city's Hotel-Motel Tax from five to seven percent. Just under 87-percent of the voters approved the measure, with 15-hundred-34 voting yes and 231 voting against.
