Minnesota man injured in motorcycle vs. tractor accident in Worth County

NORTHWOOD — A Minnesota man was airlifted to a Mason City hospital after a motorcycle versus tractor accident in Worth County on Sunday evening.

The Iowa State Patrol says a tractor being operated by 29-year-old Isaac Hovey of Northwood was eastbound on Highway 105 with its flashers on and attempted to turn into a driveway on the north side of the road when the tractor was struck by a motorcycle driven by 40-year-old Shawn Boyd of Elmore Minnesota, who was attempting to pass on the left side at a high rate of speed.

Boyd was thrown from the bike and came to rest in the north ditch east of the driveway. Boyd was airlifted to Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City for treatment. The State Patrol says Hovey was unharmed.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by the Worth County Sheriff’s Department at the scene.
